Interesting. It seems to be working on me on Arch.

I am actually just out right facing the issue where v just pasted whatever is in the clipboard currently. So the selection in the menu item does not really matter.
What I have to do is
- open menu
- scroll down to item
- Hit
Enter - then do cntrl + V to paste new item.
Basically seem like when hitting V when in menu over other item it skips the select step and just paste current item in clipbaord.
