I wonder if adding :silent in front of :delbmarks! will help.

Great suggestion, but unfortunately it has no noticeable effect. I am still presented with a confirmation prompt and all bookmarks are deleted.

To clarify, I prefaced the command like so in my ~/.vimperatorrc:

silent delbmarks!

and this is what appears at the very end when I run :messages after the browser starts:

Added bookmark: http://www.youtube.com/ (YouTube)
All bookmarks deleted
Found pattern: silent
Found pattern: silent

I don't know why the last message appears twice and after the command it prefaced.

I think it's currently not possible to achieve deleting all bookmarks
silently, but again, removing all and readding them on each startup doesn't
sound like a good solution anyway. If you need synchronized bookmarks, why
don't you use Firefox sync or a similar service/addon?

I manage my dotfiles in version control so I can keep my settings synchronized across multiple machines. Vimperator offers a way to do this for Firefox via ~/.vimperatorrc. Since I don't use the preinstalled bookmarks or hoard URLs, it's nice to wipe them clean before adding the handful that I do use via keywords. I understand I'm presenting an unusual use case and will manually run delbmarks! whenever I run Firefox for the first time, but it would be nice to avoid this step, especially since the capability is almost there (and may have been in the past). Whether it can be made silent or not, it still seems to be a bug that it doesn't run and complete at its position in ~/.vimperatorrc before moving on to subsequent commands.

Yeah it's certainly a bug and I also understand your use case.
:silent delbmarks! should do what you suggest, it's just that somebody
needs to write a patch :)
