Released this change in v2.7.0.
Both operators now simply forward into the source iterable when inside a synchronous pipeline, i.e. they do absolutely nothing, and they cost nothing in terms of performance when used inside a synchronous pipeline.

This change has been reverted for v2.8.0, because new operator concurrencyFork
was added, which provides a nice and clean solution for the issue that was outlined here.
