Is the episode marked as completed in Jellyfin after watching it on the Android TV app?
Also are there any entries in the Jellyfin logs after you complete the episode?

Jellyfin itself will mark the episode complete when I finish watching it.

My logs from starting an episode up until finishing an episode look like this:

I let the episode play all the way through. I paused it a few times throughout though. I have autoplay next episode turned off. I'm using MX Player Pro for playback.

I tested using the Android Jellyfin app on my phone and it worked normally there.

On the last line it states:

Stopped at "0" ms

Just tested it locally on my own test server, and it states:

Stopped at 1399087 ms

Which is 23 minutes, or roughly the length of an episode.
When you play the episode via shim or the android app on your phone, does it report the same time?

For an episode of teekyuu (an anime with two minute long episodes) I get

Stopped at "120860" ms

This is while using mpv shim. It correctly updates MAL and I see the "jellyfin_ani_sync" logs immediately after this episode stop log.

So, I think it might be an MX player issue. As I watched an episode on my Android TV using LibVLC as the player instead. It updated everything in MAL as it should.

That is strange. Perhaps ask in the Android TV app repo, they may be able to help.
As far as I can tell this isn't an issue on our side, so going to close this issue.
