I tend to pass c(state.abb, "DC") to avoid typing out all the states when I want a national pull like this. And thank you for the kind words!

Following up to say, it seems I just have to explicitly name each state abbreviation as a list. Is there a more elegant way to do this? Thanks for supporting a great package!

FB_2021_ct <- get_acs(geography = "tract",
                      variables = c("B05001_001","B05001_005","B05001_006"),
                      output = "wide",
                      state=c("AL","AK","AZ","AR","CA","CO","CT",
                              "DE","FL","GA","HI","ID","IL","IN",
                              "IA","KS","KY","LA","ME","MD","MA",
                              "MI","MN","MS","MO","MT","NE","NV",
                              "NH","NJ","NM","NY","NC","ND","OH",
                              "OK","OR","PA","RI","SC","SD","TN",
                              "TX","UT","VT","VA","WA","WV","WI",
                              "WY"),
                      year=2021,
                      geometry = TRUE,
                      cache_table = TRUE)
