Waiting to test with a threat addon or API.

Once we can test threat, it would be nice to compare whether Intimidation does the same amount of threat in TBC compared to Vanilla.

Here's the archived petopia page describing threat in tbc: http://web.archive.org/web/20080913001901/http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/html/articles/stats_growlthreat.php

tested and got 717 threat from a 166 attack and rank 7 growl (415) so total bonus threat was 136.

Will test at different levels and at different RAP amounts later.

potentially worthwhile to test boar charge: Boar Charge: This ability will no longer make Growl cast immediately after it generates excessive threat.

Intimidation does 1260 threat (compared to 580 from Classic).

Growl (Rank 8) doesn't seem to be working as intended currently and is doing a flat 664 threat.
at 572 RAP with 103 auto attack + growl my pet did 767 threat
at 1482 RAP with 108 auto attack + growl my pet did 772 threat

EDIT: Before you mention the RAP threshold I've tested it with 2007 RAP also, and it did the same amount of threat.

@HunterNewt were you above the RAP threshold without trinkets? Temporary AP doesn't add to the RAP threshold described in that petopia page

from hunter-tbc.

HunterNewt avatar HunterNewt commented on August 11, 2024

I must've missed that part on the petopia, but patch notes for 2.4.3 have "Growl: Pets will no longer generate additional threat from this ability based on attack power buffs cast on them. Attack power buffs on their master will still indirectly increase the threat generated by the pet's Growl."
So I naturally assumed I could use a trinket, because currently I don't have any means of getting that amount of RAP through gear that I have on my hunter.

HunterNewt avatar HunterNewt commented on August 11, 2024

After further testing, it looks that the threshold is not 1955 RAP, but in the 2190s (lowest it had worked for me is 2192 RAP).
I can also confirm that temporary AP buffs like trinkets and Blood Fury can affect Growl.
The amount of initial threat increase seems to be somewhere in the area of 400, after which it appears to scale with every point of AP (hard to tell).

Good findings. I thought I read somewhere that temporary buffs didn't benefit it, but I guess I was thinking of the patch note (which is pet AP it is referring to).

This week we can hopefully test a little more thoroughly to see if it matches up with that article with 70 templates it should be easier to test above the threshold
