Haha. Thanks. I just came here to say it just happened again after either sleep or screensaver, but if it's unrelated then it doesn't matter. :-)

It might not be entirely unrelated as the display configuration is definitely manipulated by the app (even during and after sleep), but BetterDummy and the VirtualScreens in general are not concerned with HDR specific settings, so it might be that macOS messes up something.
I am sorry that I can't say anything more specific or be of more help (my display is not HDR so I can't really test this aspect of the app).
