I only ask because when I wrote the docs/demo, I missed the fact that two-way data binding doesn't work as expected on primitive datatypes - as referenced in #3

Hello. It is bound to
var vm = this;
vm.timeToAdd = {
timeAllowed = 0;
};

So bound to vm.timeToAdd.timeAllowed

By the way it works elsewhere in my app with the exact same pattern. It does not work when your control is fired from an ionicModal.

Is it at least updating the duration correctly, just not "watching" it?

But I need to react immediately when the value is changed. This is why I use $watch. A callback would do the job also.

I'll add a callback in a future release, but for now you can use this workaround when watching for changes:

$scope.$watch(function(){
    return vm.timeToAdd.timeAllowed;
}, function() {
    // Do what needs to be done when it changes
});
