The CSS code that you type (and some other related information) in the extension is saved in "localStorage" for that domain in the browser. This approach was implemented due to its simplicity in implementation and debugging.

If a code like "localStorage.clear();" executes in the webpage, then the CSS that you have typed would get cleared. In case of Pastebin.com, it happens whenever you click on the "Create New Paste" button.

In case of a new Private Browsing mode also, you would face the similar issue since the localStorage is not retained.

A proper fix for this issue would need to change this data storage approach.
For now, it would take a while before I look into this.

Yes, I'm often lose CSS for several websites too. It looked odd before I found this issue here. Data storage place selection can greately improve such behavior. For now, I use cookies backup to retrieve lost CSS data.

The storage mode now supports localStorage and chrome.storage.local, both. The change is available in the master branch.

That means with the upcoming publish of this extension, the issue would be fixed :-)
