I get the same error. Bypassed it by setting highlightTheme: github in the YAML Front matter.

Right, interesting. Please see highlightjs/highlight.js#3461
It's now at node_modules/highlight.js/styles/base16/zenburn.css
Does that help?

I have the same issue with reveal-md 5.3.3 on Firefox. I installed reveal-md via npm install -g reveal-md. Console says: The stylesheet http://localhost:1948/css/highlight/zenburn.css was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html", is not "text/css". I can get around it by setting highlightTheme: monokai in the YAML front matter, as dvirtz suggested.
