Ok, the issue is that websocket.io (or similar) runs close() after the connection has been closed already. I suppose it would be harmless to not throw an error when you close an already closed connection.

Will add that to the next release.

In the mean time you should just handle uncaught exceptions, so that your app won't die. See http://debuggable.com/posts/node-js-dealing-with-uncaught-exceptions
