Thanks for the feedback.

I actually considered something similar to what you're suggesting when I first started building WireMock. However, I think on balance that the cost of this type of feature would outweigh the benefits.

For one it adds quite a lot of complexity (which tends to increase startup time) and removes some of the local/remote transparency i.e. you have to have shipped your code to the remote instance for particular stub mappings to work. Also, if you want build dynamic stubs it's probably easier to knock up a Dropwizard app or something similar and benefit from JAX-RS (which is a nicer programming model than WireMock's basic internal API).
