Unable to install WiX v3 - Visual Studio 2015 Extension on Visual Studio 2015 from Command Line about issues

This is part of an automated process to install Wix toolset and the associated extensions. We install VS2015 from a bundle we have stored in our internal artifact cache as well as download the VS2015 extension from there as well. Neither have changed in that storage and has been working without issue for a long time. The solution to this must use the command line to perform installation as going through the GUI like in issue #7434 is not acceptable.

@robmen I understand that part, but literally the VS2015 installation file we have been using for over a year and the Votive2015.vsix installer has not changed since the last time we successfully installed this. For some reason it stopped finding VS2015 installation. We are using VS2015 14.0.25431.01. If I go through the GUI it installs it fine, but I need this to be able to be done through the command line.

Is there any underlying reason why suddenly what has been working for the past year to stop working? Is there any specific versions of any other software that would prevent it from finding the VS2015 installation?

You're using the VS2017+ version of VSIXInstaller.exe. Use the VS2015 version of VSIXInstaller.exe in the VS2015 install directory instead.

I didn't realize there was separate VSIXInstaller.exe for this. I will try that and report back.

That appears to have resolved the issue.
