ghq look actually doesn't overwrite OLDPWD. It just starts a new shell with the designated directory: https://github.com/motemen/ghq/blob/980d2b45058866ab970e3520d55496d14f5ed755/commands.go#L353
I suppose this behavior is by design and technically unavoidable.

In this case, you can exit to return the previous directory.
