creative-html5's Introduction

Creative HTML5

Creative HTML5 is a Spring 2013 course for BFA students at Parsons the New School for Design. This course introduces students to using HTML5 as a platform for creative explorations. It will also cover the basics of JavaScript.

For Students

This is an experiment in itself by using a GitHub repo as the course's website. If you haven't created an account here, do it now, then star/follow this repo. Learn to love Github - because you will get so much out of it. Announcements about the class will be updated in this file. Each week's content - slides, code, assignments and tutorials will be in its own separate folder.

Note - If you have code-related questions, please use this repo's Issues System. This makes it much easier for me to keep track of your questions. Also, since issues are public, you can help each other out or learn from others' questions.

For Non-students

If you're not in class but simply want to learn something from this repo, please note that this course is taught at a design school. Most of the students do not have formal training in programming.

creative-html5's Issues

Random Integer Issue

Hi all,

I'm experimenting with my code now, trying to make some green bars (rectangles) have random heights by using randomInt(x, y). I've declared the function randomInt (min, max) but it makes my green bars/rectangles disappear! I also have another set of orange bars/rectangles with a fixed height, and it is displaying.

I've also tried to give the height of the green bars the name greenHeight and declare it separately but it just makes everything on my screen disappear.

Thank you in advance!

localhost:8080

Hi!

How do I make my data appear when I type in localhost:8080? I'm pretty sure I'm missing a step, but I couldn't seem to figure out what happened..

Week 4 Assignment

Hi,

I was wondering if we have to use everything we've learnt so far from week 2 to week 4 (i.e. using constructors/prototypes, for loops, Math.random, shapes, gradients, etc.) in our assignment for next week? Or is it alright if we use constructors/prototypes only and not for loops?

Thanks,
Rachal
