German zipcodes don't work either. I'm assuming that, since the script returns the country, it's supposed to work with worldwide zipcodes? The problem is that zipcodes of course aren't unique. For example, the zipcode 83119 is both my location's zipcode in Germany and Fairview, WY, USA.

I think we have some solutions for this. At least the start to some solutions to this problem. Keep an eye on us and we will post the updates as we code them. Not 100% sure which countries we'll add first.

Are you going to return all matching zip codes when there isn't an exact match? ex:
[{"country": "US", "state": "IA", "city": "Inwood"}, {"country": "FR", "state": "Marne", "city": "Saint Germain la Ville"}]

Wow, sorry I'm so far behind. We talked about returning something like that. Do you think people would be able to think of clever ways to handle that in the UI?
from ziptastic-jquery-plugin.
I do think people will find clever ways to handle it. Most people will probably only be using it for a single country, but for those that do have multiple countries they can find a good way to make the UI work if they know that it is used for getting the rest of the information they want.

So right now, the URL format is ///<postal_code>. This issue hasn't come up in the last 3 years. I'm closing unless someone wants to bring it up again! That said, we do have a reverse geocoding feature coming which will allow you to use the HTML5 geolocation APIs.
