I just figured out my patch is wrong.

This doesn't need to be modified in the core, this can be solved extending the User model like this:

class User extends ConfideUser implements UserInterface, RemindableInterface {
    ...
public function getPasswordAttribute()
{
    return $this->passwd;
}

public function setPasswordAttribute($value)
{
    $this->passwd = $value;
}
   }

This makes the other areas work transparently, please revert my patch, you could mention this in the docs.
