@timabbott Since we are not going to request a 1000 messages on startup, do we have other way to detect unread messages? Or should we delay till some improvement in the API?

Hmm, yeah, I think we'll need to do some backend work to support this. @showell FYI. I think maybe a good approach to push forward on this would be for Neeraj and I to discuss in person next week.
