chat-snap

A simple, websockets-based image-only photo-chat.

Dependencies

• Node.js
• Latest Google Chrome

Install

Make sure bower is installed:

npm install -g bower

To install back-end and front-end deps, run

npm install && bower install

Run

node main

Deploy with Heroku

Make sure the Heroku CLI is installed on your machine.

heroku login
heroku create <app name>
git remote add heroku https://git.heroku.com/<app name>.git
git push heroku master

navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia doesn't work

navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia doesn't work doesn't work in many browsers (chrome 52.0.2743.116 m (64-bit) on Win 10, chrome on iOS, chrome on Android, etc.).
Maybe try using https://modernizr.com/docs/ or https://hacks.mozilla.org/2013/02/cross-browser-camera-capture-with-getusermediawebrtc/

Callback gotcha

Use dynamic resolutions

Rendering images with a fixed resolution results in stretched images when the source image is vertica, for example.
