An open hardware modular drawer system for the VW Caddy Maxi (2014, Model 2K), designed to efficiently organize euro boxes in your cargo area using standard aluminum profiles.
The left drawer also allows carrying Festool Systainer / Makita Makpacs:
The drawing looks like this:
This project provides a complete 3D model and documentation for building a custom cargo frame that maximizes storage space in the VW Caddy Maxi cargo bed. The system features two pull-out drawers optimized to carry standard euro boxes on a minimal aluminum frame.
Key Features:
- Two heavy-duty sliding drawers (400mm and 600mm width)
- Designed for standard euro boxes (300mm, 400mm, 600mm sizes)
- Built entirely from standard aluminum profiles (B-type slot 6mm)
- Heavy-duty slides with 1250mm extension
- Optional second-level platform for additional storage
- Fully parametric design for easy customization
Vehicle Dimensions (VW Caddy Maxi 2014):
- Bed width: 1120mm
- Bed length: 1300mm
- Frame height: 440mm (accommodates 320mm euro boxes with clearance)
Components:
- Aluminum profiles: 20x20mm, 20x40mm, 40x10mm (B-type slot 6mm)
- Slides: SO-TECH KV2-200-H76-L1250-LC heavy-duty drawer slides
- Connectors: Cube connectors (20mm), connector plates (38x38x3mm)
- Support: 80x80x3mm angle bars for center mounting
Drawer Configuration:
- Left drawer: 400mm width × 1350mm depth (holds euro boxes 400×300mm and 400×600mm)
- Right drawer: 600mm width × 1350mm depth (holds euro boxes 300×400mm and 600×400mm)
This project uses OpenSCAD for parametric 3D modeling. OpenSCAD is a free and open-source CAD application that uses a scripting language to define 3D models, making it perfect for parametric designs that can be easily modified and shared.

Aluminum Profiles (B-type slot 6mm):
- Profile 20x20mm: ~12m total
- Profile 20x40mm: ~10m total
- Profile 40x10mm: ~4m total
- 80x80x3mm angle bars: 2× 1300mm length
Hardware:
- 2× SO-TECH KV2-200-H76-L1250-LC drawer slides
- Cube connectors 20mm (B-type slot 6)
- Connector plates 38x38x3mm
- M6 screws, T-nuts, and angle brackets (B-type slot 6 compatible)
- 1× wooden plate 1120×1300×18mm (optional, for top platform)
Euro Boxes: Configure based on your needs. The default configuration uses:
- 6× 400×300×320mm boxes
- 2× 600×400×320mm boxes
- The base frame features portal-like structures that mount to the vehicle bed
- Center angle bars provide mounting points for inner slides and vertical supports
- Slides are mounted using T-nuts in the profile slots
- Drawer frames use cube connectors for rigid corner joints
- Optional vertical supports can be added for heavy loads on the top platform
All dimensions are parametric and defined in config.scad. You can easily adjust:
- Vehicle bed dimensions
- Frame height
- Euro box sizes and positions
- Drawer widths
- Slide specifications
