api-usability-testing's Introduction

/Developer Program

This is the official microsite of the API Usability Program, which provides workshops and a toolkit for agencies to collect feedback about their APIs from real or representatitve customers, and then gives agencies the tools to act on the collected data.

The site contains information about API Usability Testing sessions, the API Testing Kit, and details the lessons we've learned from analyzing dozens of agency APIs.

About the Site

This site is a partnership of 18F and the DigitalGov User Experience Program. More information about the API /Developer program is available on the /Developer Program homepage, which contains a collection of tools to help grow your agency's API efforts.

api-usability-testing's Issues

More bullet problems

Having major issues between the "preview" view and the actual view on the page. In the "schedule" section, the indented bullets appear indented and hollow in the preview, but appear in-line and filled-in on the real page. can't figure out why

research api usability testing elsewhere

Agency checklist leads away from site

in the kit, the agency checklist take us to a similar page under API-All-the-X. because it is built with the same template, it gets very confusing when the left nav all of the sudden changes to a bunch of different options.

Strange bulleting in the kit

Not sure if the formatting was changed to make the "cell" effect, but we should either bullet the options or keep the cell layout w/o asterisks

ideas for future events

...

  • record sessions for agency's later review
  • do a 2 weeks later 30 minute virtual meeting with agencies to go through what they've done

add a highlights section

  • FDA improving the pages on the fly in the meeting
  • Amit wrote and offered back a Ruby SDK for the DHS api

Proposed changes to description of repo to make it clearer for users.

Hey!

I'm doing a quick audit of all of 18F's GitHub repos to make sure that descriptions, README's, and issues are written as concisely and descriptively as they can be. This will help other organizations who would like to adapt our code as well as the public โ€” who may be interested in adapting our code or contributing to our repos.

The current description of this repo is: A package for API Usability testing

Would it be possible to change it to: This repo contains an API usability testing toolkit which helps teams collect feedback from real or representative customers, and then act on the collected data.

I am also going to suggest some changes to your README.md through a pull request. I don't have access to change the description.
