One-command macOS setup for developers — optimized defaults, faster UI, smarter Finder, window snapping, shell aliases, and optional Homebrew installs via config.
This script turns a fresh macOS install into a developer-friendly machine in under 30 seconds.
By default, it:
- Speeds up keyboard repeat and UI animations
- Enables tap-to-click and full keyboard navigation
- Shows hidden files and file extensions in Finder
- Disables annoying popups and UI beeps
- Enables automatic window snapping (via Rectangle)
- Adds useful CLI tools (fzf, ripgrep, zoxide, git-delta, etc.)
- Installs Quick Look plugins for JSON / Markdown preview
- Adds shell aliases (
ll,gs,gl, etc.)
All tweaks are configurable via macos-dev-tweaks.conf (you can enable/disable any item).

macOS defaults are designed for casual users, not engineers.
This script reconfigures it for people who build things — faster, quieter, and more keyboard-driven.
Stop hunting for hidden files, waiting on animations, or manually resizing windows. Run the script once and forget about it.
