README

Video Asset Extractor

Chrome Manifest V3 extension that finds likely video asset URLs on the current tab and lets you copy them from the popup.

What it looks for

  • Completed network requests that look like video assets, including URLs ending in .mp4, .mov, .webm, .m3u8, .mpd, and similar formats.
  • URLs already present in the page DOM, inline scripts, or the tab's performance resource entries.
  • Signed asset links such as Frame.io encode URLs when the page loads or references them directly.

Install locally

  1. Open chrome://extensions.
  2. Enable Developer mode.
  3. Click Load unpacked.
  4. Select this folder: ../../video-scraper.

Use it

  1. Open the page you want to inspect.
  2. If you installed the extension after the page was already open, reload the page once.
  3. Play the video if the site only fetches assets on demand.
  4. Open the extension popup.
  5. Click any URL or Copy all to copy the extracted links.

Notes

  • The popup merges two sources: captured network requests and a live page scan.
  • It only works on normal http and https pages, not chrome:// pages or the Chrome Web Store.
  • It surfaces links already present or requested by the page. It does not bypass access controls, DRM, or blob-only playback pipelines.
