Pixit was made at HackSC during their annual hackathon at 2020. With the sustainability vertical in mind, Pixit was designed to create a spark of action as well as bring local awareness to the cleanliness of the community.
Using Google Map's Geolocation API, Pixit is able to have users landmark places in their community, which is shared amongst all users; letting them know some places have been cleaned and that some placed need volunteers to clean help clean out the rest.
Our data is stored through MongoDB Atlas, which is used numerous times through the application, such as on page load when we display all the latitudes and longitudes on the map where users have registered places as clean. Users are able to register for an account and keep track of their progress on the go with an iOS application where they can report on their progress as they go out and clean their community!

- Bootstrap was used to create the front-end layout of our project, creating a responsive design for multiple resolutions
- Express.js is a web framework that we used to build our server.
- Node.js is the development environment we used to build our application.
- Handlebars is an assisting templating language we used to easily format our project's HTML files
- MongoDB and Mongoose was used to store data about users and keep track of their stars.
- Bcrypt is a Node package we used to handle hashing passwords before saving them in the database as well as for validating passwords when users log in.
- Google Cloud Platform Our most vital piece of the project was making sure we could integrate Google Maps' API into our application and manipulate it to the way we wanted it to. We supplemented our data with Computer Engine to run a server off of our localhost.
- Swift we used Swift to design a mobile application to partner with our desktop version so that users can take their cleaning adventures on the go!
