Emacsium - Use your Emacs muscle memory to browse the web by keyboard shortcuts

This is one of the many Firefox (Web-)Extensions that will provide you keyboard shortcuts to browse the web with Firefox. I came up with a new one, because I want to be sure (to some degree) that the extensions I use are not doing any dubious stuff. Furthermore it was a good way to learn some JavaScript.

I strive to keep it small so that it stays maintainable and so that other people that might have an interest can, with reasonable effort, verify/falsify that this extensions does nothing against their will.

This extension will handle keyboard shortcuts for the following tasks:

  • opening links (in same and new tabs)
  • scrolling in the website
  • copying url and title of the current website into the clipboard
  • navigating back and forth in the browser history

Usage

If you want to try this extension you can load it as temporary add-on by opening about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox in Firefox.

Make sure to give Emacsium some permissions (about:addons -> Extensions), because otherwise Emacsium is not allowed to access any website.

Guidance for me

Uploading a new version

Go to Add-on Developer Hub.
