README

social-post skill

An agent skill that teaches your AI assistant to write good, on-brand social media posts and schedule them through the Social Media Manager MCP server — with consistent tone, per-platform formatting, hashtag rules, and the correct create_draft_post field mapping.

Works with any MCP-capable assistant:

  • Claude (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Claude.ai) → via SKILL.md
  • ChatGPT, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, and other agents → via AGENTS.md

Both files contain the same guidance — keep them in sync if you edit one.

Prerequisite

A Social Media Manager account with an MCP connection (server URL + access token). Create one on the integration page in the app — it generates a token scoped to your team account. This repo contains no secrets; the token stays on your machine, in your assistant's config.

Install

Claude Code

Drop the skill into your skills folder (project-level or ~/.claude/skills):

git clone https://github.com/Schmedu/social-post-skill.git ~/.claude/skills/social-post

Or download the repo and place SKILL.md at .claude/skills/social-post/SKILL.md. Claude picks it up automatically and triggers it when you ask for a post.

Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop reads project skills from the folder you open in the Code tab. Put SKILL.md under .claude/skills/social-post/ in that project, alongside your MCP connection in claude_desktop_config.json.

ChatGPT / OpenAI Codex / Cursor / other agents

Copy AGENTS.md into your project root (Codex and many agents read AGENTS.md automatically), or paste its contents into the assistant's custom instructions / system prompt. Then connect the Social Media Manager MCP server in that client.

What it does

Once installed, ask your assistant things like:

  • "Draft a LinkedIn post about my latest blog article."
  • "Make an Instagram post on this topic and schedule it for tomorrow at 9am."
  • "Write something for Facebook and X about our new service page."

The assistant reads your account context, finds source content and an image, writes a distinct caption per platform, and creates a draft — nothing is published until you approve it (unless you granted the publish permission).
