Installation

  2. Install the MCP Memory Service add-on

  3. Configure and start the add-on

Quick Start

  1. Install and start the add-on
  2. Test the service:
    curl http://homeassistant:8080/health
  3. Store a memory:
    curl -X POST http://homeassistant:8080/memory/store \

      -d '{"content": "User prefers morning meetings"}'
  4. Search memories:
    curl "http://homeassistant:8080/memory/search?query=meeting"

External Access

Access your memory service from anywhere:

  • Port Forwarding: Forward port 8080 to your HA instance
  • Reverse Proxy: Use Nginx Proxy Manager (recommended)
  • VPN: Access through your Home Assistant VPN

Development

Local Development

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/swingerman/ha-mcp-memory-addon.git
    cd ha-mcp-memory-addon
  2. Build and test locally (requires Home Assistant build environment):

    # For local testing, install the add-on in Home Assistant
