chainbb-frontend's Issues

Exclusive content showing posts not made via chainbb.

On the forum I am moderating /f/christianity , I've chosen the setting of exclusive content only, but I have noticed that posts made via steemit.com are still showing in the feed.

My purpose in choosing exclusive content was to avoid chainbb content being lost in the firehose of content coming through from steemit.com.

This occasional post coming through from steemit.com is not undermining that purpose, but it does seem out of place and unexpected.

Flaky public api access is making it hard to interact with the frontend

Lately, I've been greeted with spinning circles at every action on the interface. It has been necessary to refresh pages 2-5 times to be able to access them.

I've been patient and committed to using the interface for my own personal reasons (I moderate a forum), but for anyone else it would be very demotivating to engage with the platform when pages are generally inaccessible on the first attempt.

Is there any solution in the works to mitigate this issue?

Arbitrary choices for 'General Interest'

The choice of General Interest forums seems arbitrary.

Many of them have been inactive for months. Would it be better to show those that have active posting from the chainbb interface?

I'm obviously a little butthurt that mine is not on there, but put that aside for a minute and consider that people who are encouraging activity should be prioritized for the front page.

If a user quotes the parent post, don't automatically quote the post

Currently if you reply to a post and use blockquotes to quote part of their post (by hand), it displays two quotes in a row.

Ideally it should no longer automatically quote the parent, but instead use the quote that the user created

Things to consider:

  • The automatic quoting has a link to the user, the post, and a "Jump to Original" button that would need to be preserved. These elements would need to be moved or potentially appended to the user generated blockquote.
  • The detection will have to ensure it's part of the parent post and not just using blockquotes for formatting purposes. Perhaps it triggers only when the first character of the reply is > (to indicate a blockquote).
