Currently when a non-admin adds scholars, we are asking email address, but not their names. Can we provide an optional field where they can add their names ? We can also have a message next to this field saying that "This is optional. If you provide it, it will be added to the list of contributors in the website".
Then, we can have a page in the website where we make public all the contributors (of course who chose to provide their names.
Someone trying to add a scholar sent a message:
"I tried to add myself to the scholar database but there is no section for HCI under CS category. And I didn't see ways to add 'other' as well. Possibly a design issue."
@biwek This is an urgent issue because many people trying to add can be put off by not having their disciplines in the drop down. Can we have 'other' appearing in the drop down like: "Other (suggest new discipline)" and when they select this allow them to enter in a field "New Discipline that best fits the added scholar:"
Something like this ?
When users who add new scholars provide their email addresses, can we send an automatic email when admin approves their additions ? This will inform them of whether their requests have been accepted or not.
Or if sending an email without their consent is a problem, how about having a checkbox message that is ticked and says "Send me an email when moderators approve my suggestions" which can be unchecked if the want to ?
