For the login part on this line id is passed to mongo but id is undefined it's _id

This is the MeteorJS behavior

The @accounts/server package calls the verifyEmail function of the db instance here

This will currently throw an error so I categorize it as a bug but really it is just missing functionality.
I don't need this at the moment so I am just adding this issue instead of implementing it myself but this is definitely a low hanging fruit for anyone that wishes to contribute.

The find functions needs to have a projection parameter to limit which fields are selected.
