Has anyone tried this method on the newer 5009? Just weary of bricking it since it comes with RouterOS 7 and the openwrt wiki has a huge warning about that...

I put an ONT in the SFP cage and try to communicate with it.

Its like the sfp port is not working

kmod-sfp is missing. COuld it be the reason ?

I'm attempting to install this on my RB5009, and despite seeing the file transfer over TFTP, my RB5009 reboots automatically into ROS 7.

I observe the following in /var/log/messages of the existing router (DHCP and TFTP server):

The RB5009 comes up and gets the ELF via TFTP

At this point, I navigate to 192.168.88.2 and see the familiar ROS 7 greeting page.

Apologies if I've failed to follow the installation instructions properly. Anyone have ideas as to what is going wrong? I believe the serial console is disabled.

With wireshark, I checked that the Hostname of OpenWrt received an IP from DHCP.
But the device doesn't open any ports.
I need help..

I understand this board does a ton of hardware acceleration on RouterOS, are the same hardware features accelerated in OpenWRT? Which bits aren't working?

I'm not shure if this is a bug or simply due to nature of this snapshot release, but using the provided sysfs image OpenWrt SNAPSHOT r18617-7c5826afd2 / LuCI Master git-22.046.84457-2178444, I have limited access to packages provided by
the installed opkg lists. If I add an other snapshot opkg repository, e.g. luci, then on package installation, there are incompatibilities, e.g. a kernel 5.15 is required but not found.

Do I have to build a full snapshot openwrt with decent kernel from the scratch , to have a full selection of packages? or is there a simpler way to access compatible packages e.g. from repo luci, that I could just not find..

I was successfully able to install OpenWrt with the provided instructions and binaries in the repository but now I want to upgrade to the latest 22.03. I tried to build a sysupgrade image with the Quick Start instructions in the repository but clearly I still need more knowledge on how to do that. I guess I'm asking for a resource to help me build as close to the 22.03 release for the RB5009.
