grunt-webfontjson's Introduction

grunt-webfontjson

Grunt plugin for webfontjson.

Turn a set of web font files into JSON.

Why?

Sometimes you want more control over when and how web fonts are loaded in to your page. Sometimes you want to cache them in localStorage or indexedDB, decide exactly which point they are applied to the page, etc… That's difficult when you simply download a font file.

Getting Started

This plugin requires Grunt ~0.4.0

If you haven't used Grunt before, be sure to check out the Getting Started guide, as it explains how to create a Gruntfile as well as install and use Grunt plugins. Once you're familiar with that process, you may install this plugin with this command:

npm install grunt-webfontjson --save-dev

One the plugin has been installed, it may be enabled inside your Gruntfile with this line of JavaScript:

grunt.loadNpmTasks('grunt-webfontjson');

The "webfontjson" task

Overview

In your project's Gruntfile, add a section named webfontjson to the data object passed into grunt.initConfig().

grunt.initConfig({
  webfontjson: {
    woff: {
      options: {
        "filename": "test/MyriadPro.woff.json",
        "callback": "myCallback",
        "fonts": [
          {
            "font-family": "WebFont-MyriadPro",
            "font-weight": "normal",
            "file": "/Library/Fonts/MyriadPro-Regular.woff",
            "format": "woff"
          },
          {
            "font-family": "WebFont-MyriadPro",
            "font-weight": "bold",
            "file": "/Library/Fonts/MyriadPro-Bold.woff",
            "format": "woff"
          }
        ]
      }
    }

})

grunt-webfontjson's Issues

Tests not working

I can't get the tests to run and I don't understand how they should work?
There obviously should be a tmp folder with the actual output, but how?
