Install

• Download the WindowTextExtractor in the zip file
• Chocolatey: choco install windowtextextractor
• Scoop: scoop bucket add extras and scoop install extras/windowtextextractor

Requirements

• .NET Framework 4.0 (OS Windows XP SP3 and later) till version 1.14.1
• .NET Framework 4.6 (OS Windows Vista SP2 and later) from version 1.15.0

How to Use

• Launch WindowTextExtractor on your system.
• Now simply drag the 'Find window' button to get a window information, text, password or image.

Some issues that arose during the use of the program:

1)Can't extract text from google chrome. It extracts "Chrome Legacy Window". On the bookmarks works fine!

2)Also can't extract passwords stored behind asterisks (*****) from edge,chrome and mozilla browsers. It doesn't do anything

3)On Sublime text instead of extracting the text inside the file, it extracts the name of the file.

4)Can't extract text from my desktop. It says "NVIDIA GeForce Overlay" instead of the text the cursor points.

[Feature Request] Add transparent and opaque items to the Action button

Application != open

The zip file is unzip, but the file name "WindowTextExtractor64.exe" cannot open in both "Open" AND "Run as administrator".

[FR] Check local directory for Settings.json before AppData

If Settings.json is in the binary's directory, that path should be used for loading/saving the application's settings, rather than the %APPDATA%\WindowTextExtractor directory. This would make the application "portable".

Chrome and Firefox Stopped Lunching or Not Responding while SmartSystemMenu Running

Hello Brother. Hope you doing well. Recently I noticed that chrome and firefox is not lunching or responding while smart system manu is running, If I kill the process of smartsystemmenu then both browser working fine. Any Solution on this?

Chrome Version is : Version 113.0.5672.93 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Firefox Verison is : 113.0 (64 bit)

how does text extraction work ?

Hi ! awesome work, I was wondering if the text extraction is fully based on OCR ? based on my testing, it seems to be the case since there are many confusions between 1 and l for example.

Is it possible to select one UI widget and receive data as more data is available (as a stream)?

Text collection function needed.

I have one request.
When I get text by pointer, I want these texts to be stacked. need to not always refreshed.
I wish I could make the text stack and store without flush it in the with options button.

OCR Win 7

Apologies if I've asked before, I can't remember...Is it possible for OCR to work with Windows 7?
