docker-openssl's Issues

Cannot build Dockerfile on Windows OS

In regards to your comment about being able to run this on Windows or Linux operating system I keep trying to build the Dockerfile and getting the following error:

PS D:\docker-cert-gen> docker build -t openssl:latest .
Sending build context to Docker daemon 2.048kB
Step 1/5 : FROM alpine:3.8
3.8: Pulling from library/alpine
no matching manifest for windows/amd64 10.0.17763 in the manifest list entries

I am assuming this is because I have Windows containers, how do I get this to work with Windows containers? I can't dual install Linux and Windows containers as it's an experimental feature still.

On Ubuntu, cert.pem and key.pem are created as directories

I followed your instructions for setting up the docker image for mobydq here.

Observed:

docker run -it --rm -v "/<your_path>/mobydq/nginx/config:/openssl-certs" docker-openssl

On Ubuntu when I run the above command it generates folders under /mobydq/nginx/config named cert.pem and key.pem. As a result getting the following error.

OpenSSL> req -x509 -newkey rsa:4096 -nodes -out cert.pem -keyout key.pem -days 365
Generating a RSA private key
..................................................................................................................................................................................++++
...........................++++
writing new private key to 'key.pem'
req: Can't open "key.pem" for writing, Is a directory
error in req

Expected:

The command is supposed to create cert.pem and key.pem as files instead. Unless I am missing something.

Can't find the saved files

Hi,
After cloning the repo, I successfully installed the docker image with
$ docker build -t docker-openssl:latest .

and then running successfully:
$ docker run -it --rm -v "/d/test:/openssl-certs" docker-openssl

runs fine and I generate the certs:
$ req -x509 -newkey rsa:4096 -nodes -out cert.pem -keyout key.pem -days 365
then $ exit to quit openSSL
When I browse to d:\test\openssl-certs, it's empty...

Am I doing something wrong? or I misunderstood something?

OS: Windows 10 home running Docker community desktop
