✏️ Configuring

To enter edit mode, click on the cog icon in the top right corner.

Saving your StartTree

Click on the top right check button to copy and go to your new URL.

Pro tip: Use an url-shortener to shorten the link: TinyUrl

⚙ Setting as default

Once you configured your StartTree and copied its URL, you can set it as your default browser page.

Development

The current version is stable and tested in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. If you want to contribute, feel free to make a pull request. Please keep it simple and lightweight.

Adding themes

1. Create a new .css file in /themes, which follows the same structure as the existing ones (most of them were generated using Pywal).

2. Add a new entry at the end of the THEMES array in theme-changer.js

StartTreeV2 is based on a static website generated using StartTree. Huge Thanks @Paul-Houser for creating such an awesome project!

How StartTreeV2 differs from StartTree:

The original version is a python program, which generates a static html page based on a yaml config. This version is a website hosted on Github pages, which means you do not have to host it yourself. To configure your tree, I added a web editor, which allows editing the tree directly in the browser. That means you do not have to write a yaml config and recompile the page every time you want to make a change. Your configuration data is stored in the url, which you simply copy once you are done with your configuration.

multiple search engine feature request

I want to have multiple search engines similar to currently available multiple link trees!

Currently we can just use 1 search engine as we can see in the picture below:

What I want is to have multiple search engines at the same time. The required demo picture is submitted below:
The addition and removal of search engines should be dynamic similar to link tree!

So, I would like you to make a feature update.
Or at least tell me how to make it (for myself) cause i don't know js.

Settings don't work

I generated a start tree, and it's working nice. However, when I click on the settings icon in the up right corner, it just loads an empty page. I have this problem on brave browser version 1.33.106, I tried same on Firefox, everything was perfect, and I could use settings as you planned. Let me add I turned off brave-shield (that block ads, third party, ...) but the issue remain. Still, I don't know if the difficulty is general for chromium or not.

The Search form issue, bookmarks issue

Settings dont work

As described in this closed issue (#8).

I bought an used Surface Tablet Pro 7 and just use the current Edge currently and searched for a nicer "new tab" Page and found this.
But the settings page keeps blank.

URI too long

When you have too much bookmarks defined the URI saved is too long and does not work. Got Error URI too long
Are you limited to a specific among of bookmarks links ?

Last letter disappears in description

When i add a new entry to the tree, enter the description and then add the link via copy-paste, the last letter of the Description is not saved. I have to edit the Tree Item again and add the final letter, then press Enter, then its saved.
