npm-uninstall-facebook's Introduction

NPM Uninstall Facebook

Facebook’s relentless abuse of their position is making them difficult to support. Unfortunately, their products and open source projects have a large impact on our everyday lives.

Some people understandably, want to distance themselves as far as possible from Facebook, so this site provides alternatives to well known Facebook products, or products that are heavily reliant on Facebook technologies.

It is not a call to boycott Facebook or their open source contributions. People are of course, welcome to make those decisions on their own.

Contribute

There are many open source projects by Facebook that are not listed here, yet. Please add your knowledge of alternatives by following this guide:

        link: 'https://preactjs.com'
      - title: 'Vue'
        link: 'https://vuejs.org'
    ---
React is a _very_ popular JavaScript library that helps developers create state-driven, component-based user interfaces.

npm-uninstall-facebook's Issues

Why Gatsby?

Hey !

I love this! From what I know Gatsby is its own company

Is it because it's based on react ?

Why?

Not sure why you treat the Facebook entity as a whole for the recent issues.

For me the opensource soul running at FB and their main product issues are not the same things.

My apology if I'm wrong, but I read this repo description and my feeling is "Oh, Facebook is doing something bad, perhaps we need to start to get rid of their every contribution to the opensource world".

If this is true, it will be the childish and shallowest reason I have ever seen.

Babel

I see Babel and Babylon in your package-lock.json. Babel (at least 5.x and 6.x) was primarily developed by a Facebook employee. 😄
