I need to access the data of a rather old closed-source application using DDE. Up until now, I was using VBA for the task and it works well. Now I wanted to switch to C# using NDde, unfortunately however, the application doesn't recognize the commands. From the error messages received I gather that the application is confused by the unicode data it receives, it seems to expect 8-bit strings.

Any advice on how to deal with that? Is there some trick to do this with NDde or would it have to be rewritten entirely?

Previously, you could get url of an open tab ("WWW_GetWindowInfo"). And now?

I get this exception "Could not load file or assembly 'Assist_extensions' A strongly-named assembly is required. I dont have any reference to the 'Assist_extensions' file. Does any one know how to solve this?

This just happens after a while (few minutes of running)
the exception message returned is just "NDde.Client.DdeClient"

Despite the fact that I took it from the folder NDde/Source/Reference/, it’s still an error

Hello,

I tried everything in the instruction to get the DDE communication to work over local network, my client works fine when communication with a server on the same machine.
I'm using Windows 10 on both machines
I've searched and found this on Microsoft docs

It seems like they stopped supporting it, so I downloaded the exe and the ddl from the internet, manually placed them and still running the exe doesn't make any difference, it doesn't even show in the processes list. This probably means it terminates right away.

Do you have any experience with this or can you provide any help? Thank you so much in advance.
