Some improvements that could be made to the existing alerts doc:

• add some example images from in the app for context (in addition to the designs at the bottom)
• use a table structure for the guidelines at the top to help make comparing differences a little easier

Now that the design principles content is in it's own directory's README, the repo README is kind of bare and could use some updates.
