Seed is a small synth plugin project aimed at Ableton Live on macOS. The first implementation step is a minimal JUCE VST3 shell with one gain control, a placeholder sine voice, and a console test target.
The project version lives in the repository root VERSION file. Update that file when you want to bump the plugin version, then re-run CMake so the generated version header and plugin metadata stay in sync.
- Xcode
- CMake 3.24 or newer
- Git
ninja is not required. The current repository builds with CMake's Unix Makefiles generator on macOS.
Run from the repository root:
cmake -S . -B build-make -G "Unix Makefiles" -DCMAKE_C_COMPILER=/usr/bin/clang -DCMAKE_CXX_COMPILER=/usr/bin/clang++
Run from the repository root:
cmake --build build-make --parallel 4
If COPY_PLUGIN_AFTER_BUILD succeeds, the built plugin bundle is copied to:
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Seed.vst3
Run from the repository root:
ctest --test-dir build-make --output-on-failure
- Open Ableton Live and enable VST3 plugins in Settings if needed.
- Rescan plugins.
- Insert
Seedon a MIDI track. - Play notes and confirm the placeholder sine tone is audible.
- Move the gain slider and confirm the output level changes.
