# augustl.com
The live site is a Next.js app deployed on Vercel.
## Development
Install the toolchain declared in `mise.toml`, then install dependencies and run
Next.js:
```sh
mise install
mise run setup
mise run dev
```
With the mise shell hook enabled, entering the repository automatically selects
Node 24.11.0 and Yarn 1.22.22. The `mise run` commands also guarantee the pinned
versions even when another executable appears earlier in `PATH`.
The development site is available at <http://localhost:7010>. Production builds use:
```sh
mise run build
mise run start
```
Vercel detects the Next.js app directly; no static export step is needed.
## Posts
Posts live below `posts/` as plain `.md` files with YAML frontmatter:
```md
---
title: "A post title"
date: "2026-08-30"
content_format: "markdown"
---
Post contents go here.
```
`content_format` is either `markdown` or `html`. The latter preserves the markup
of older posts byte-for-byte inside a Markdown file. Posts are ordered by date,
newest first. Optional fields are `updated`, `series`, `rss_warning`, and
`unlisted`.
## Parity testing
Given an archived export of the previous site, compare every post, page shell,
and Atom feed with the Next.js production build:
```sh
yarn check:parity /path/to/legacy-export
```
The parity suite uses the system Chromium browser.
