bpi-m64-firmware's Issues

New Kernel Wi-Fi AP6212 driver is no good.

I follow the guide. And build the whole system again.
BTW The new system can run Chromium smoothly.

But I found the Wi-Fi is not working.
So I update the driver frome below
https://github.com/BPI-SINOVOIP/BPI_WiFi_Firmware/tree/master/ap6212
Right now the wifi work perfectly.

Below is before I fix the driver dmesg log.

dmesg|grep fail

Cannot detect EMMC on latest version of BPI-M64

Hi,

I just bought a new BPI-M64 but the the firmware can no longer detect the EMMC storage. With the prev version of BPI board, listing /dev/mmblock will produce mmblock0 and mmblock1 (SD and EMMC respectively)

With the new board, it only detects mmblock0

USB OTG broken

Seems that USB OTG is not working in last version, It works on last installed version I have on a few boards (before kernel update).

No +5V present when jumping OTG pins, it works fine with oficial distro.

bad ../physical_package_id value

When I cat:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/topology/physical_package_id
I got a return value of -1, which is not correct.

The same for each cpu [0...3].

FYI, I'm using kernel 3.10.102

LED does not light up

Hello,

I updated kernel to 3.10.105, but I tried to turn on the LED in the procedure in the readme, but it does not light up.

In this case, do I need to redo the Kernel update procedure?

It seems that it is loaded in dmesg ...

[ 8.465164] gpio_led_probe start
[ 8.465185] led1 gpio number is 143
[ 8.465188] led1_trigger led trigger name is heartbeat
[ 8.465193] led2 gpio number is 142
[ 8.465195] led2_trigger led trigger name is mmc0

Thanks.

Q: how to change the user

Hi, I've tried to add a new user and add it to sudo group. my plan was later to login using the new user and delete ubuntu user. I can login using SSH But I cannot if I'm using LXDE.

Board can't boot

Hi, I prepared SD card according to your instruction (with problems becouse files from gdrive can't be wgeted but i did it manualy). When I try to boot my BPI M64 with this card I obtain black screen.. nothing happend. I repeat whole process but effect is still the same. Maybe you can publish image file with everything prepared?

fix about the jack sound

In the readme.md file, I noticed there is a line about "HDMI sound and JACK sound". I encountered a "audio jack does not work" problem. How did you fix this issue? kernel change or userspace change?

WiringPi & RPI.GPIO do not work - on 4.4 Kernel

Hello, I was trying your image and I have some issues with it.

following the guide from BPI of installing WiringPi & python GPIO and it doesnt run on the board.
the error I get that the application can run only on Raspberry PI board.

When using other image as like Armbian / or other BPI_M64 those applications work without any issue.

What is missing and how to fix that?
I like your image since it is small but I need to be able to work with those applications.

Another question:
I am using HDMI 5" 800x480 LCD, On Armbian image I can see the display, with yours I have a white screen, what do I need to do in order to get it to work?

Load average permanently above 1 when idle

Hi,

I'm using your work on my banana pi m64 (great work and documentation, by the way!). However, ever since I've installed it - and even after an update to kernel 3.10.105 - I have a load average constantly greater than 1 when my system is idle. Even after stopping all application, my load average is around 1.05, which is not normal considering that CPU is not stressed at all and I have no I/O.

I've done some googling, but found no reason why the load average could be that high with a minimum of process running. If CPU is not used it could be EMMC access, but I checked the I/O and there is nothing there. I though there could be a Kernel issue, but I'm not sure at all.

Despite this load average, my system is running normally, but I would prefer to see a load average close to 0 when the banana pi is doing nothing.

So, first question: do you also observe this?
And secondly: do you have an idea of the root cause and how to fix it?

Some more info:

  • I'm running the system on EMMC
  • I've uninstalled all the graphic part to use the banana pi as a server
  • Here are some info from the system:

Would m64 borad update kernel to 4.14??

Hello Avafinger

I saw the news Linux Kernel 4.14 will support M64 board.

Would this project update to kernel 4.14??

I need some functions on 4.X kernel. For example BBR.

bpi m64 not booting after kernel update

So i just tried to update the kernel on my bpi m64.
commands:

wget https://github.com/avafinger/bpi-m64-firmware/blob/master/linux-image-4.4.89-m64_1.0-2.deb
sudo dpkg -i linux-image-4.4.89-m64_1.0-2.deb
sync && sync && reboot

now my bpi is not booting anymore it only shows the Allwinner H5 splashscreen. Any hints what i could attempt to recover it?

I also changed the fstab to boot from emmc even if a sd card is present so im not sure if just creating a new sd card would result in a bootable system.

Edit:
So i was able to boot off of a newly created SD card.

here is how i fixed my problem with downgrading the kernel to 3.10 again:

sudo su
cd /
mount -B /dev/mmcblk0p2 /mnt
mount -B /dev/mmcblk0p1 /mnt/boot
mount -B /proc /mnt/proc
mount -B /dev /mnt/dev
mount -B /dev/pts /mnt/dev/pts
mount -B /sys /mnt/sys
mount -B /run /mnt/run
chroot /mnt
cd /tmp
wget https://github.com/avafinger/bpi-m64-firmware/raw/master/linux-image-3.10.105-a64_1.0-2.deb
dpkg -i linux-image-3.10.105-a64_1.0-2.deb
exit
shutdown

Now I'm able to boot into my system again and everything seems to work fine.

Out of curiosity, did i do something dumb while updating the kernel? Or is an update not possible without also reinstalling the complete system?

AUDIO Won't work

I try everything.
a64-2GB.dtb_ analog_sound_output
a64-2GB_codec.dtb Fix for codec
a64-2GB_codec2.dtb another attempt to fix audiocode
a64-2GB_codec3.dtb fix: dvfs tabl
none of these work....
It is not silent at all. The HDMI TV speaker did has some "noise" come out.
But none of these a64 files let the microphone work.
Not to mention analog audio speaker.
Any log file I need to print here?

ADSL PPPOE missing ppp_generic

Is me again.
I run the ppoeconf

error message will show below

Couldn't open the /dev/ppp device: No such device or address
modprobe: FATAL: Module ppp_generic not found in directory /lib/modules/3.10.105-a64
/usr/sbin/pppd: Please load the ppp_generic kernel module.

So I change the /lib/modules/3.10.105-a64/modules.alias
from
alias char-major-99-* ppdev
to
alias char-major-99-* ppp_generic
Nothing change..

What/Where need to modify the configuration?
Thanks.
