Grebel Weekly Menu Scraper

This project aims to automatically create an iCalendar feed for the Conrad Grebel Weekly Menu and make this calendar available to students/associates of the college. The bigger goal is to allow students to specify meals that they like, so they can be notified when the meal is being served.

Remove empty weeks from scraped data

The website has a number of weeks for which the schedule isn't up. Probably shouldn't be creating events with empty meals.

{Mobile experience} Create separate tabs for calendar and favorite list

For a better mobile experience, I’d suggest that the menu and favorite list organized in separate tabs to bring more focus to the content that the user wants to focus on.

In theory we should have these. So I'm at least going to get the first step done and create an issue for them.

Can’t view any events in the calendar due to not having permissions

Might be b/c I am logged in as James, but I am logged in as Alex on Google Calendars.

Change logout button to a link to reduce visual priority

The log out button is very prominent, I would prefer that this was a link to push it further in the background visually

Add Favourite Meal button should be disabled if nothing in meal input field

Add favorite meal is the most prominent visual element on the screen. However, when I click it nothing it happens. Perhaps this button should be disabled until the user has inserted a meal in the input field.

Don't allow users to submit empty meal items to favorite list

I shouldn’t be able to create an entry to the favorite list when I didn’t input anything in the meal input field.

Handle html tags well

we should probably deal with those differently

Jquery calendar

Prevent duplicate meal input items and bring consistency to capitalization

Lower-case and upper-case items that are spelled the same should only appear in the favorite list once. Furthermore, the items in the list should either have first letter uppercase or all letter lower case for consistency

Get some basic styles

Probably want some standard wrapper of some sort. We can break this down however we want.

• Bootstrap/alternative for the cop out
• SCSS custom styles

Probably want to create a base header/footer to use on every page or something similar for standard navigation

Create standard list of food items

We probably should create a standard list from the menu and use that to help us with reconciling the diff between the menu and user entries using some sort of fuzzy matching.

Need to find a way to add entries based on scraped data
