gncdu

gncdu implements NCurses Disk Usage(ncdu) with golang, and is at leaset twice faster as ncdu.

Install

Binaries

macOS (Apple Silicon)

wget -O https://github.com/bastengao/gncdu/releases/download/v0.7.0/gncdu-darwin-arm64 && chmod +x /usr/local/bin/gncdu

Linux (amd64)

gncdu's Issues

selection resets

After pressing D, then ESC currently selected file got unselected. And first file in the directory get selected.

Exiting directory selects first file in the list, but it suppose to select folder I exits. (very hard to navigate inside large directories with 100 of files)

not showing read errors

gncdu not showing read errors while scanning folders with no permissions to read.

Easy to misjudge folder size not knowing here is read errors while scanning folders.

Scan time is not accurate

time.Tick doesn't guarantee it can generate ticks accurately.

On my machine, gncdu says 30s on the scan dialog but it actually already elapsed 45s according to my watch.

Feature reuqest: Frame borders

Most ncurser apps showing frame borders:

• ncdu
• nnn
• mc

gncdu showing no borders, no padding bettwen terminal window and first symbols (hard to see "." dot files)

scanning progress

Scanning big HDD can be slow. Showing progress with current size, file count, current file/folder and read errros would be very helpfull.

scanning / resulting in 128TB folder named /proc

Using gncdu under linux showing virtual folder /proc as actual folder size of 128TB with one big file /proc/kcore 128TB.

q for quit

most ncusers apps allow to quit by pressing 'q'

feature request: background deletion

Hello!

Can you support for background deletion? HDD works slowly, I'd like to delete big folders in background while keep navigating trougth files tree and delete more folders.
