What solution do you suggest?
Is it enough to have the gpl header included in all of these files?
In this case we start contacting all the authors

Yes, I think it's enough to contact the authors and ask them to license their files
as gpl. Adding the gpl header should be ok then.

I'm just curious how the discussion with the translators is going ... any progress or
any timespan when we will have the results... Right now it's the only thing that
keeps me form releasing a Debian package

simmilar for fedora packaging
how we could help with this? Do we need to find and contact authors and ask them? Or
was this already done and we are waiting for their response?

As I still don't see any progress here I posted to the RawTherapee forum:
http://www.rawtherapee.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1851
I hope this will speed up the process a bit.

Not sure what we can do here... I agree that it is an issue, but given that some
translation authors are not contactable, I don't know how we can get their explicit
permission.
I commented on the forum post a bit more, perhaps further discussion can happen there.
Cheers

As per the discussion above, I have added a GPL header to the language files. I am
now in the process of tracking down license details for the themes. Status is
currently as follows:
-Gray Textured is a theme written by me, which is based off of GM Looks and Cillop
Midnight (both of which are GPL). This one is safe, and I have added the header
-Gray. Found it on http://crunchbang.org/wiki/darkness-returns-gtk-theme/, without
license information. I have emailed the author and requested clarification on the
license.
-Clearlooks (Dark Orange) - downloaded from http://art.gnome.org/themes/gtk2/1065,
licensed under GPL. Added header.
-Dark - according to existing header, it was based off of BlueCurve, which is GPL
according to http://linux.softpedia.com/downloadTag/bluecurve+theme (yeah, not the
most authoritative source, but the best I could find). Thus, it is a derivative
work, and also licensed under GPL. Added the header.
-Default - also based on BlueCurve; added header.
-Light - also based on BlueCurve; added header.
So basically, the only theme we are still unsure about is Gray. When I hear back
from the author, I will update that file (or delete it, if it is not kosher).
As of now, I have pushed all changed files to the mercurial repo. Please let me know
if you have any questions or comments.
Cheers

Just got a reply from Philip (the author of Gray theme, AKA Darkness Returns). He
has added the GPL snippet to the top of the theme; email attached:

Hello Wyatt :)
Sure I would, what would you require from me? Would it be fine just to
include a standard GPL license snippet at the top of the theme? If so,
I have updated the files available from:
http://crunchbang.org/wiki/darkness-returns-gtk-theme/
Hope this is okay and good luck with RawTherapee! :)

I have updated this file in Mercurial.

As for the profiles, I don't know that they would be required to have GPL
licensing... they are created by the program itself, and are not source files; I
would view this something like a document template for open office.
If people feel that GPL licensing would still be necessary for these, I will ask
Gabor; I would imagine that chances are good that he created them himself.
Otherwise, it would be trivial to re-create similar profiles from scratch and license
as GPL.

Wow, great news! Thank you!
As the profiles don't have any header I think they are automatically licensed under
GPL as the whole project is licensed under GPL.
I don't have an idea how to handle the language files but I'll ask some Debian people
how they handle things like that.

Sounds good, I will close this issue.
As for the language files, although I don't think it is strictly necessary, I have
added the same GPL header as we use for source (with different comment characters,
of
course). I think this is more than required, but it works 8-)
