The way to go would be to use mutation observers 
(https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/DOM/DOM_Mutation_Observers). But they 
were only officially introduced in Gecko 14.

So I'll have to wait until FF ESR 10 support ends (Feb. 19. 2013)...
I could try to find a compatibility hack, though...
