When scrolling text is displayed (text that is longer than the number of displays), the command keeps running so that it can scroll and doesn't accept any more input from serial so Arduino has to be turned on/off to continue Serial input.
Multiple objects of this library currently don't work, because global variables are used to determine some settings about the display. This is being worked on.
