dotfiles's Introduction

Daniel Hahlers Dotfiles

These are config files to set up a system the way I like it.

Installation

# a) with a github account/setup:
git clone [email protected]:blueyed/dotfiles ~/.dotfiles
# b) without a github account setup:
git clone git://github.com/blueyed/dotfiles ~/.dotfiles
cd ~/.dotfiles
make install

Environment

I primarily use zsh on Linux, but this is setup for generic shells (like bash) as well.

If you would like to switch to zsh, you can do so with the following command:

chsh -s /bin/zsh

The Makefile in ~/.dotfiles provides this conviently via ‘make setup_zsh`.

Z Shell

zsh is setup via a oh-my-zsh git submodule (heavily forked).

dotfiles's Issues

Add AwesomeWM config

It is missing and too awesome to be missed.

Should be in a separate repo, or a "desktop" branch - but still.

Cursor shape vim

Some weird signs are being thrown in my terminal when using the settings for cursor shape (approx. from line 3957). After having started vim with your vimrc those signs appear frequently in my prompt next to the cursor as well. See screenshot. How can I find out what settings do work for me?
This site did not yield any answers about that issue: http://vim.wikia.com/wiki/Configuring_the_cursor
Thanks for sharing (it's caring)! 🎃

$TERM=screen-256color

XFCE4 Terminal-Emulator.
zsh 5.0.7 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu)
Also in GNU bash, version 4.3.30(1)-release (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu)

Update

  • In (U)Xterm it seems to work fine (only colored change).
  • Also with the last section activated (escape codes for tmux) it does not work properly
