Aha, you mean you want to display the actual brackets?

In the signature, you will see what you expect: <something>. Only, when you try to edit again, it's not visible. You have to put in HTML mode, then fix it from <something> to &lt;something&gt;, and then change what you want: &lt;something else&gt;.
