bikesy's Introduction

Hi, I'm Brendan ๐Ÿ‘‹

I'm an entrepreneur, developer and transportation planner/engineer based in San Francisco, CA.

I'm a transportation geek: I own a 1980s MUNI bendy-bus and my high school and college jobs were at a bike store, on the deck of a passenger steamboat, and working the ramp at MSP for a regional airline.

In my professional life, I run BlinkTag Inc which works at the intersection of technology, transportation and city planning.

bikesy's Issues

First two clicks as setting start and end is awkward

Interpreting the first two single clicks on the map as setting the start and
end location is an unusual convention and awkward. It's actually really hard
to pinpoint your location until you pan and zoom, and that usually entails
clicking the map,

Allow waypoints along route.

"I like it, but wishing for the ability to add multiple destinations. Example, I wish to ride a trail loop in Briones park. The start point is fine, but when I choose the end point, it does not make a loop, but a straight route between Start and End point. I hope the by adding points in between the Start and End points, I could get the loop."

API server down

Sorry for the report here, but the API server seem down, causing error pages to be returned for api.php requests, translating into an error message on bikesy when trying to find a route.

Color Code elevation profile by grade

institute a color system to the grade; you can make it whatever you feel is appropriate, but have a legend to describe what the colors mean (similar to what you have; green is an easy grade, red is more difficult). The graph would change color along with the difficulty of the climb. You could even implement a choice, where the user inputs their biking ability (beginner -> Lance Armstrong) and get back an elevation profile that would tell them how difficult it is based on their own skill level. Also, keep the elevation profile consistent within a search; otherwise it makes comparison difficult.

Elevation Profile click links to map

Clicking on the elevation profile to "go to" / highlight that part of the route on the map. This would help me to know where on the route the big hills will happen.
