basic-git-tutorial's Issues

permission denied

Hey ya'll, everythings going well, I went through that lifehacker tutorial and went through all the basics but now I'm trying to do it again with Ben's Alumni-Office-Application repository but I'm getting a couple errors.

I did the remote origin command and then tried to do the 'pull origin master' command and it said permission denied, cannot read from remote repository, please make sure you have correct access rights and remote repository exists. I then tried to do git clone and it gave me the same error. I kept going anyway and created a WillRaulin.txt, added , and committed it, but then got the same access denied error when I tried to push it.

Anyone know what's going on? I figured it might be happening because I already created a directory and repository when I was making an example called Alumni-proj. but I then I started over and did mkdir Alumni-Office-Application, then changed directories to that one and then followed all of the instructions Ben posted.

one other thing to note: when trying to add remote origin i tried
git add remote origin [email protected]:btrebach/Alumni-Office-Application.git and I got the error pathspec 'remote' did not match any files.

then I switched add and remote around and it seemed to work:
git remote add origin [email protected]:btrebach/Alumni-Office-Application.git

but maybe I thought it worked and it didn't?

sorry this was so long - anyone have any ideas?
